ALBUM REVIEW- Tweet's "Charlene"

"It must be magic cuz what you do to me I can't understand it."

It's been almost a decade and a half since Rochester, NY's Southern Hummingbird had folks touching themselves to the tune of her 2002 debut single "Oops (Oh My).  I remember the first time I heard the song.  I was thinking there was no WAY that song was about what I THOUGHT it was about.  "Self Love".  Yes.  That's exactly what it was about.

I tried and I tried, to avoid but this thing was happening
swallow my pride, let it ride, and partied
but this body, felt just like mine
i got worried, i looked over to the left
a reflection of myself, thas why I couldn't catch my breath

A stunning beauty with a matching voice, Tweet captured ears of millions with her Soulful unique voice and amazing harmonies.  I personally don't think that there has been another to interject harmonies into songs quite like Tweet.  That's her "thing".

The first single from her new album is a guitar twinged jam full of sass wrapped in soul.  One thing about Tweet, her lyrics make it clear that she's not here for any man's MESS.

"Do whatever it is you gotta do.  It won't hurt me."

"Charlene" is a 15 track album and it gives her fans EVERYTHING that they love about her.  Great productions, lyrics, harmonies all delivered by that VOICE.  You can hear the conviction.  She's not just singing.  She means every word.

 FAV SONG-  "Magic"

Runner Up- "Somebody Else Will" Ft. Missy Elliot

Back in the day she had folks "Smocking Cigarettes".   This time I think they just might light an L or savor a few sips a little cognac. "Charlene" feels like THAT.

Purchase your copy of Charlene on Itunes or pick a cd up in a store!  Support R&B with your CASH and tell people when you hear something amazing.  That's what will allow artists like Tweet to stay around and giving us the music that we have been craving for so long.
